Mixpanel integration

Mixpanel tells you which users stick. Send each landing page lead in as an event with its campaign and variant, and you can see which ad sets bring in the users who stay.

  • Webhook
  • Landing pages, Quiz funnels, Workflows (beta, by HTTP Request)

Why connect it

Why Mixpanel and LanderLab

  • Lead events next to product events

The lead joins the same Mixpanel project as signups and usage, so reports run from the form to the habit.

  • Retention by campaign and variant

Break any Retention or Funnels report down by utm_campaign or the A/B variant and see which traffic stays.

  • Location from the visitor's IP

Send the visitor's IP and Mixpanel resolves city, region and country from it, instead of LanderLab's server location.

  • Profiles with Mixpanel's own fields

A second request can set $email, $name and $phone on the user profile, the properties Mixpanel reserves for them.

  • No secret key needed

Mixpanel's project token goes in the event's properties, and Mixpanel says it isn't a secret, so the webhook needs no private key.

  • Send only the leads you want

Workflows (beta) can filter leads before the HTTP Request node posts them, so only finished quizzes or only one country reach Mixpanel.

Mixpanel on your landing pages

Mixpanel is built to answer what users do after they arrive. LanderLab's webhook gives it the moment they arrived. Each lead is posted to Mixpanel's /track ingestion endpoint, the one Mixpanel recommends for third-party webhooks, as an event with the form's answers, the page, the UTMs, the variant and the visitor's IP as properties.

It fits product and growth teams paying for acquisition: fintech and insurance apps, SaaS trials, course and coaching businesses. When the lead event and the product events share a distinct_id, Funnels and Retention start at the ad.

Landing page leads as Mixpanel events

Each submit becomes a "Lead Submitted" event, with the quiz answers and form fields as event properties and $current_url as the page. The webhook's JSON mode sends the array Mixpanel's /track endpoint takes, so it's one request per lead with no middleware.

Use the person's email, or the ID your product uses, as the distinct_id, and the lead is the first event on the same user your app tracks later.

Funnels and retention, broken down by ad set

With utm_source, utm_campaign and the A/B variant on the lead event, a Mixpanel Funnel can start at the landing page and end at a deposit, a policy bound or a lesson completed. A Retention report split by campaign shows which ad sets bring back users week after week, and which only bring signups.

Save the best campaign's leads as a cohort and you have a profile of the users your ads should look for.

The right location on every lead

A server-side request carries the server's IP, which would put every lead in the same data center city. Mixpanel reads an ip property instead when you send one, and LanderLab has the visitor's IP on every lead. Geography reports then show where your leads really are, which matters when offers, payouts and compliance change by state.

Profiles from the form

Mixpanel keeps people in user profiles, with reserved properties for email, name and phone. A second webhook to Mixpanel's profile endpoint sets them from the form, so the profile your team opens for a user starts with how they came in.

Use cases

Ways to use Mixpanel on paid traffic

  • 01

A fintech signup quiz on TikTok

A budgeting app runs a quiz on TikTok. Each lead goes to Mixpanel with the campaign, and a Retention report shows which creatives' users are still active a month later.

  • 02

    SaaS demo requests from search

Demo pages post each request to Mixpanel. A Funnel from request to activated account, split by keyword campaign, shows where sales time pays off.

  • 03

    An online course on Meta

An enrollment quiz sends answers like experience level as properties. Cohorts by answer and campaign show which leads finish the first module.

FAQ

Mixpanel integration FAQ

Anything not here, ask us.

Mixpanel and LanderLab

Does LanderLab integrate with Mixpanel?

Yes, through the page's Webhook integration: it posts each lead to Mixpanel's /track ingestion API, the one Mixpanel recommends for third-party webhooks.

Do I need Zapier to send leads to Mixpanel?

No. The webhook posts the event to Mixpanel's /track endpoint itself, one request per lead.

Will Mixpanel see my UTMs?

Yes. Hidden fields capture them from the ad's URL, and they're sent as utm_source, utm_campaign and the rest on every lead event.

Can I send quiz answers to Mixpanel?

Yes. Each answer can be an event property, or a profile property on the user.

Does it work with Mixpanel's EU data residency?

Yes. Mixpanel has separate EU and India ingestion hosts, and the webhook posts to the one your project uses.

Is Mixpanel worth connecting to my landing pages?

If your product runs on Mixpanel and you pay for acquisition, yes: Funnels and Retention can then start at the ad and show which campaigns bring users who stay.
