Build the popup, then pick the moment it opens.

Most of the clicks you pay for leave without converting. Start from a template or a blank popup, build it with the same elements as the page, and open it on load, after a delay, at a scroll depth or on exit intent.

The LanderLab editor with a solar landing page open and its Popups panel showing one popup, the Solar Savings Popup, set to open on exit intent. The popup's settings are real controls: its trigger, position, animation, how often it shows, its backdrop and its close button. Play previews it as a visitor would see it.

Pick a trigger, then press Play to watch it open the way a visitor would see it.

Why built in

One editor for the page and its popups.

The old way

  • “Another popup tool, another script on the page.”
  • “The popup doesn't look like the landing page.”
  • “It opens on every page view, every time.”
  • “On phones the scroll trigger fires too late.”

The LanderLab way

  • “The popup is built in the page editor.”
  • “Same elements, fonts and colors as the page.”
  • “Show Once, or Stay Dismissed for 30 days.”
  • “A scroll depth for each device.”

Triggers

Open it when the visitor is ready, not when they land.

Each popup has its own trigger in the Popup tab. Set a delay in seconds, or a separate scroll depth for desktop, tablet and mobile.

  • A page loading, with the popup opening as it arrives.

    On page load

Opens the moment the visitor arrives. For an offer that has to be seen before anything else.

  • A page with a timer counting down from 4 seconds, then the popup opening.

    After delay

Opens after the number of seconds you set, once the visitor has had time to read.

  • A page scrolling past a line at 50% on desktop and 30% on mobile, then the popup opening.

    On scroll

Opens at a share of the page scrolled, with its own depth on desktop, tablet and mobile.

  • A pointer moving up out of the page toward the browser's tabs, then the popup opening.

    Exit intent

Opens as the visitor heads for the tab bar, with one last offer before the click is gone.

01Open

Open it from a button

Set any button or link on the page to the PopUp / Modal action and it opens a popup instead of leaving the page. Set the popup's trigger to Manual and it waits for that click.

  • Keep the offer, the form or the extra details one click away
  • Track the click as a conversion, like any other link
  • A Stripe checkout can open a popup after the payment

02Code

Popup API

Open, close, toggle or dismiss any popup from your own script with window.llPopupsApi. Copy the popup's ID from the Popups panel and drop the code into a Custom Code element.

  • close() for maybe later, dismiss() for don't show this again
  • Leave the ID out and it acts on every popup on the page
  • An open() call reopens a popup the visitor dismissed

03Sell

A popup after the payment

On a page that sells with Stripe Checkout, choose what happens once the payment goes through. Open a popup with the next offer, the thank-you or the booking link, and the buyer never leaves the page.

  • Stay on page, redirect, go to an element or open a popup
  • One-time or recurring payments
  • Card details go straight to Stripe

Frequency

Show it once, not on every page view.

Turn on Show Once to trigger the popup one time per session, and Stay Dismissed to keep it closed for 30 days after the visitor closes it. Preview links ignore both, so you can test it as often as you like.

General

Show OnceOnly trigger once per session
Stay DismissedRemember dismissal for 30 days

Preview links never read or write either setting, so the popup always opens while you test.

Does the popup pay for itself? Split test it.

Run a variant with the popup against one without, on the URL your ads already use, and let the leads decide. A/B testing comes with Grow and up.

How it works

A popup on the page in three steps.

  1. 01

    Add a popup

Open the Popups panel in the editor's left sidebar, click Add Popup and pick a template, or Empty to build from scratch.

  2. 02

Build it and set the trigger

Drag in a form, a quiz, a countdown or a button, then choose when it opens, where it sits and how it animates.

  3. 03

    Preview it, then publish

Press Play to see it open in Live Mode, then publish. It runs on the live page with the rest of the landing page.

Where the leads go

Popup sign-ups go where the page's leads go.

A form in a popup is a form on the page. Send each lead to your email platform, your CRM or your buyer.

FAQ

Questions about Popup Builder.

Anything not here is in the Help Center, or ask us.

Before you start

Does the popup builder cost extra?

No. Popups are part of the page editor on every plan, not an add-on. Plans differ by visits, published pages, domains and users. The Free plan gives you 2,500 visits a month and 5 published pages, and needs no card.

What can I put in a popup?

Any element you'd put on the page: headlines and text, images and video, buttons, forms, quiz funnels, redirect links, countdown timers and custom code. You can also use the AI builder inside the popup to write or rewrite its content.

How do I stop it from showing again and again?

Turn on Show Once to trigger it one time per session, or Stay Dismissed to keep it closed for 30 days after a visitor closes it. Preview links ignore both, so the popup always opens while you test.

Can a button open the popup instead of a trigger?

Yes. Set the button's link action to PopUp / Modal. Set the popup's trigger to Manual if it should only open from that button, a link or your own code with the Popup API.

How do I check it before the page goes live?

The editor doesn't run scripts while you edit, so press Play in the bottom toolbar to switch to Live Mode and see the popup open as a visitor would. The Pencil takes you back to editing.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The scroll trigger takes its own depth for desktop, tablet and mobile, and the editor's device switch shows the popup on each screen before you publish.

Give every click one more offer before it leaves.

Start free, add a popup from a template, pick when it opens and watch it in Live Mode before you publish.
